👋 Hey legends!

If the disability and aged care space feels a little loud right now… you’re not wrong 😮‍💨
There’s a lot changing — plans, rules, pricing, projects — and it can feel hard to keep up.

That’s why this newsletter exists 💚
To slow things down, explain what’s happening, and help you understand what actually matters to you.

Let’s get into it 👇

Big National Updates (what’s affecting everyone)

🛠️ NDIS planning is getting a refresh

A new NDIS planning system is coming from mid-2026.

The aim is simple:

  • fairer plans

  • clearer decisions

  • less confusion 🤯

There’s also a 3-year pricing plan being worked on 💰
This looks at how supports are priced so services stay available and sustainable.

Why this matters:
Planning and pricing shape what supports exist, how they’re delivered, and how reliable they are for everyone.

🚨 Provider rules are tightening

Some providers — including SIL homes 🏠 and online platforms 📱 — will need to be officially registered from 1 July 2026.

Why this matters:

  • clearer standards

  • stronger accountability

  • better safeguards for people receiving supports

This is a system-wide shift.

⚖️ Quality & safety is getting stronger

New laws are being proposed with tougher penalties where providers don’t meet their responsibilities — especially if harm occurs.

In plain terms:
More responsibility.
Less cutting corners.
Better protection.

🌊 Aged care reforms are still settling

The new Aged Care Act is now in place 📜
It focuses on rights, dignity, and safety for older people.

Many people are still feeling unsure or confused while systems adjust — and that’s being felt across the sector.

🌏 Around Australia (quick scan)

🟦 NSW

No major local updates — national planning and provider changes still apply.

🟥 Victoria

Hospital discharges are delayed 🚑
Impact: longer waits, more pressure on families and workers.

🟨 Queensland

Aged care project changes interstate highlight how quickly large builds can shift.
Impact: future service availability depends on stable planning.

🟩 South Australia

A major aged care redevelopment hit a setback after a provider stepped away.
Impact: shows how fragile large projects can be right now.

🟪 ACT, TAS, WA & NT

No big local headlines — national changes apply everywhere.

🔥What this means for all of us (real talk)

Whether you’re a support worker, participant, family member, support coordinator, or provider — these changes affect all of us 🤝

Right now, we’re seeing shifts in:

  • who can deliver supports

  • how services are priced 💸

  • how plans are built and reviewed 📑

NDIS planning is being rebuilt to create:

  • more consistency

  • clearer outcomes

  • fewer surprises

If things feel messy or overwhelming — that’s not a personal failure 😵‍💫
The system itself is in transition.

This space works best when we move together 💚
